Coal Aston Post Office No. 2
EDM number 1939 in 2002-03, proposed by Harry Barnes on 18/11/2003.
That this House notes that the Post Office notified customers of the Coal Aston Post Office of the consultative arrangements over the proposed closure of their local branch on 1st September and informed them of the final closure decision on 28th October, with the closure date announced as being 6th December; is astonished now to see that the closure notice was pre-printed in March 2003, six months prior to the supposed consultation period; and believes that the Post Office failed in its duty of care in not conducting a genuine consultation and that the branch should remain open so that a decision on its future can be sent to an independent body outside the Post Office for adjudication.
