UK Strategy Framework For Women And Sport

That this House congratulates the UK co-ordinating Group for Women and Sport on the launch of the UK Strategy Framework for Women and Sport at the meeting of the International Working Group for Women and Sport, held on 8th to 9th November at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre; notes that the UK Government has formally endorsed the Brighton declaration thereby making a commitment for equality for women in sport; further notes that one in three girls aged 11 years is overweight and that 40 per cent. of girls drop out of sport at age 18; recognises the outstanding success of British sporting women over the years despite the imbalance in funding; applauds the work of the International Working Group; and wishes them every success in increasing the rates of women's participation in sport.
