European Union Constitution Energy Chapter
EDM number 1896 in 2002-03, proposed by Bob Blizzard on 10/11/2003.
That this House, recognising the importance of the UK oil and gas industry to the nation's economy and energy supply, is concerned that the inclusion of an energy chapter in the proposed European Union constitution may result in the loss of national control over the exploitation of this country's reserves of oil and gas; and calls upon the Government in its negotiations at the Inter Governmental Conference to veto any proposal to cede competence over licensing and other national controls of the UK's oil and gas reserves to the European Union.
This motion has been signed by a total of 75 MPs.
