Small Football Clubs And The FA Cup
EDM number 1892 in 2002-03, proposed by Hilton Dawson on 10/11/2003.
That this House offers it heartfelt commiserations to the excellent players, management and supporters of Lancaster City Football Club, beaten by Cambridge United with an injury time goal in the first round of the FA Cup; congratulates Cambridge on their victory and hopes that they draw Manchester United, Chelsea or Arsenal in the third round and beat them with a couple of scruffy goals; and affirms above all its belief that robust, sporting encounters so typical of the early rounds of the FA Cup do more for the reputation of football than all the millionaire prima donnas of the Premier League put together.
