Cardhu Pure Malt Whisky

EDM number 1863 in 2002-03, proposed by Mark Lazarowicz on 04/11/2003.

That this House expresses its concern at the decision by Diageo to market Cardhu Pure Malt whisky, which is a blend of several malts, in a packaging which is virtually identical to their Cardhu single Highland malt whisky; notes that there is widespread concern in the industry that this action will seriously undermine the integrity and authenticity of the entire single malt industry and jeopardise long-term consumer confidence in a product which is of major importance for the Scottish economy; and calls upon Diageo to cease marketing their Cardhu Pure Malt in this manner.
