Acknowledgement Of Homophobia As A Hate Crime
EDM number 1858 in 2002-03, proposed by Desmond Turner on 04/11/2003.
That this House considers that homophobic discrimination, abuse or violence towards individuals is as unacceptable in a civilised society as is the expression of racial or religious hatred through abuse or violence; and accordingly applauds the Government's decision to amend the law so that homophobic discrimination, abuse or violence is treated on the same basis of law as racial or religious discrimination, abuse or violence, thereby recognising homophobia in law as a hate crime.
