Churches In Scotland
EDM number 1850 in 2002-03, proposed by Annabelle Ewing on 30/10/2003.
That this House warmly welcomes recent development in the affairs of Christian churches in Scotland, in particular the appointment of Dr Alison Elliot as the first woman Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, and the elevation of His Eminence Archbishop Keith O'Brien to the College of Cardinals of the Catholic Church; and believes that the naming of two such distinguished figures to these positions of prominence and importance in the spiritual and temporal life of Scotland are extremely positive steps for the whole nation.
