European Constitution And Fishing Industry
EDM number 1849 in 2002-03, proposed by Angus Robertson on 30/10/2003.
That this House notes the ongoing work of the Intergovernmental Conference of the European Union, which is discussing the draft Constitutional Treaty of the EU; regrets that the UK Government has made no effort thus far to remove the entrenchment of fishing as an exclusive EU competence from the Draft; calls upon the UK Government to seek to make this change in the process leading to the meeting of Heads of State and Government in Brussels on 12th and 13th December; further notes that citizens in the majority of EU countries are likely to be able to vote on the final version of the Constitution in referendums; and welcomes moves in the Scottish Parliament which would extend this right to Scotland.
This motion has been signed by a total of 9 MPs.
