Zapadnay Coalmine Disaster

EDM number 1847 in 2002-03, proposed by Michael Clapham on 30/10/2003.

That this House congratulates the Russian mine rescue workers who tunnelled through 50 metres of rock in record time to save 11 of the 13 coalminers trapped for seven days by a sudden influx of water at the Zapadnay coal mine in Southern Russia; and sends sympathies to the families of the dead and the missing miner.
