Compensation For Surface Mine Workers
EDM number 1801 in 2002-03, proposed by Wayne David on 22/10/2003.
That this House urges all parties to reach an agreement as quickly as possible on the payment of compensation to mineworkers who worked in surface occupations at coal mines and suffer from chronic obstruction pulmonary disease as a consequence; and believes that there is clear medical evidence which demonstrates that certain surface occupations, such as working on the screens, led to exposure to injurious respirable dust.
