R.m.s. Leinster Commemorations
EDM number 1758 in 2002-03, proposed by Albert Owen on 15/10/2003.
That this House congratulates the Friends of RMS Leinster for organising the memorial services in port towns of Holyhead and Dun Laoghaire to commemorate the 85th anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Leinster on 10th October 1918, which resulted in the death of 501 people, crew members, civilians and military which was the greatest ever loss of life in the Irish Sea; and urges the UK Government to work with the Irish Government and other nations to assist the Friends of the RMS Leinster in future years to restore to memory the 501 people who died in the RMS Leinster with a permanent memorial in both port communities.
This motion has been signed by a total of 26 MPs.
