UK Shipbuilding

EDM number 1747 in 2002-03, proposed by Jimmy Wray on 15/10/2003.

That this House is dismayed to hear that Britain's oldest shipbuilding yard Appledore is now in receivership; believes that this industry is of paramount importance to the country and its maritime traditions; and further believes that more should be done by the Government to preserve and increase shipbuilding in all parts of the UK and to ensure that workers are secure in their jobs which are so important to UK trade and security.

This motion has been signed by a total of 26 MPs.
