School Meals Provision
EDM number 1740 in 2002-03, proposed by Helen Jones on 15/10/2003.
That this House is concerned at the growing evidence of obesity and poor diet amongst young people; recognises the important role school meals can play in encouraging healthy eating and providing vital nutrients; believes that the current nutritional guidelines, together with the pricing policies adopted by many schools and the low value of school meals vouchers, do not encourage students to eat healthily; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to carry out an urgent review of school meals provision with a view to introducing policies which recognise that good school meals play a vital role both in health and educational attainment.
