Lesbian And Gay Clergy And Meeting Of Anglican Primates

EDM number 1737 in 2002-03, proposed by Martin Salter on 14/10/2003.

That this House notes the meeting of the Anglican Primates in London on 15th to 17th October; trusts that lesbian and gay clergy will not be subject to further discrimination and harassment; regrets the treatment of Canon Jeffrey John following his proposed appointment as Bishop of Reading; and calls upon the Anglican Communion to show tolerance and understanding towards people of different sexual orientation.
