Proposed Cardiff Glamorgan University

EDM number 1665 in 2002-03, proposed by Hywel Francis on 10/09/2003.

That this House notes the proposed merger of the University of Glamorgan with the University of Wales Institute of Cardiff; believes that it is important that the merger reflects the culture of the communities from which they have grown, namely the valleys, the vale and the city of Cardiff; recognises the success of the two institutions in widening access, particularly the University of Glamorgan, in valley communities; rejects the proposed name of Cardiff Metropolitan as inappropriate in denying the importance of the Glamorgan valleys and the Vale of Glamorgan; and proposes as a more appropriate alternative name, Cardiff Glamorgan University.
