Road Deaths In Ibiza

EDM number 1617 in 2002-03, proposed by Mark Tami on 17/07/2003.

That this House expresses concern that 10 British youngsters have died in the past six years outside clubs on the notorious PM731 road in Ibiza; recognises that the main cause of death for young tourists visiting Ibiza is road accidents; further recognises the urgent need for a reduction in the speed limit and improvements to pathways and lighting; welcomes recent steps taken by Spanish authorities and individual clubs to begin to improve pedestrian safety; and calls upon the British Government to press for greater public awareness of the dangers to young tourists in Ibiza and to press for immediate action to reduce the risk to pedestrians on the PM731.

This motion has been signed by a total of 22 MPs.
