Scottish Natural Heritage
EDM number 1609 in 2002-03, proposed by Mark Lazarowicz on 16/07/2003.
That this House notes that the Board of Scottish Natural Heritage has once again made clear its opposition to the proposed relocation of its headquarters from Edinburgh; further notes that the proposed relocation is opposed by the trades unions, civic leaders, many honourable Members and Members of the Scottish Parliament, flies in the face of the recommendations of the independent consultants who reported on the issue, and could moreover lead to up to 200 compulsory redundancies amongst the agency's existing staff; and condemns the Liberal Democrat Minister for the Environment in the Scottish Executive for his refusal to reconsider the proposed relocation in the face of such widespread opposition.
This motion has been signed by a total of 11 MPs.
