Commemoration Of The 50th Anniversary Of The Sinking Of The Princess Victoria
EDM number 159 in 2002-03, proposed by Iris Robinson on 20/11/2002.
That this House supports the commemoration of the forthcoming 50th Anniversary of the sinking of the Princess Victoria, which was one of the first generation of roll-on-roll-off ferries brought into service between Great Britain, Northern Ireland and the Continent of Europe after World War II; remembers with deep respect the 133 passengers and crew lost off the coast of the Copeland Islands on the early afternoon of 31st January 1953; and encourages local government in Northern Ireland and the Northern Ireland Office to mark this tragic maritime disaster with the respect and honour it so deserves.
