Tynwald Day, Isle Of Man

That this House salutes the people of the Isle of Man as they celebrate their national day this week, upholding centuries of proud tradition; notes that the Manx annual Tynwald Ceremony dates back over 1000 years and that this year's ceremony on Tynwald Hill was presided over by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Lord of Mann; recognises that The Tynwald is the oldest continuous Parliament in the world, dating back to 800 A.D.; and looks forward to the people of this unique British Crown Dependency enjoying a further 1000 years of self-government and home rule, whilst retaining the special link with the United Kingdom.
