European Court Of Human Rights Finucane Judgement
EDM number 1522 in 2002-03, proposed by Kevin McNamara on 03/07/2003.
That this House notes the European Court of Human Rights finding on 1st July that 'the proceedings for investigating the death of Patrick Finucane failed to provide a prompt and effective investigation into the allegations of collusion by security personnel' and that there has been 'a failure to comply with the procedural obligation imposed by Article 2 of the Convention' and 'in this respect, a violation of that provision'; pays tribute to the courage and determination of Geraldine Finucane and her family who have persevered in their fight for justice, winning international respect and support for their demand for a full and independent international judicial inquiry; and urges the Government to establish such an inquiry without delay.
This motion has been signed by a total of 10 MPs.
