Un Small Arms Conference

EDM number 1504 in 2002-03, proposed by Angus Robertson on 01/07/2003.

That this House applauds the first UN Biennial meeting of states to consider the implementation of the Programme of Action on Small Arms taking place in New York from 7th to 11th July; notes with concern the ongoing devastation wrought by the illicit trade in small arms and light weapons throughout the world; expresses its conviction that the regular international exchange of experience and ideas that this biennial meeting represents is an important step in starting effectively to counter this potent danger to local, national, regional and international stability in the world; and calls on the Government fully to support and foster international civil society in its fundamental role in the prevention, combat and eradication of the illicit trade in small arms and light weapons in all its aspects.

This motion has been signed by a total of 44 MPs.
