Arbroath Smokies

EDM number 1459 in 2002-03, proposed by Mike Weir on 24/06/2003.

That this House congratulates the Arbroath Fish Processors Association and Angus Council on the success in reaching the final stages in their efforts in obtaining protection for the Arbroath Smokie under the European Union's Protected Geographical Indications Scheme, which will give this unique delicacy protection from inferior products and imitations; and notes that the designation of the Arbroath Smokie means that it will join the ranks of world famous delicacies like Parma Ham and Champagne.

This motion has been signed by a total of 17 MPs.
