Link Between Counterfeit Goods And Organised Crime

That this House notes with extreme concern the report, Proving the Connection, which documents the involvement of organised criminal and terrorist groups in much of the UK's ú10 billion illegal trade in fake and counterfeit goods; congratulates the Alliance Against Counterfeiting and Piracy on its efforts to draw this link to the attention of all those who might otherwise unwittingly be duped into supporting criminal activities by purchasing such goods; and calls on the Government to support the efforts of the police, trading standards officers, Customs and Excise, and industry's own enforcement agencies to crack down on intellectual property theft.
