British Energy And Nuclear Power

EDM number 140 in 2002-03, proposed by Mike Weir on 19/11/2002.

That this House notes the continuing financial difficulties of British Energy and that the existing loan of ú650 million from Her Majesty's Government expires at the end of November; and believes that the continuing problems with the company shows that nuclear power is uneconomic, that no more public funds should be used to prop up the company and that existing nuclear power stations should be phased out at the end of their economic or technological life.

This motion has been signed by a total of 23 MPs.
