Wide Loads On Roads
EDM number 1387 in 2002-03, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 11/06/2003.
That this House notes the severe disruption to Britain's motorways caused by wide loads moving at peak time; recognises that the traffic congestion caused by wide loans operating at peak times must cost the UK economy millions of pounds every year; further notes that responsibility for moving wide loads lies with the individual police authorities; and calls for the creation of a special agency charged with the responsibility of moving wide loads on UK roads during off-peak hours and allowing the police to carry out their work of crime prevention.
This motion has been signed by a total of 27 MPs.
