GOVERNMENT HEALTH WARNING ON CHILDREN'S FOOD

EDM number 138 in 2002-03, proposed by Derek Wyatt on 19/11/2002.

That this House notes that one in three children is now categorised as overweight and one in nine obese; further notes that diabetes and heart disease will increase among teenagers resulting in thousands of premature deaths and disabilities in the next generation; and calls on the Government to devise, as it has done in a different environment with cigarette and associated tobacco sales, a health risk logo to be part of all food advertising aimed at children.
