British Olympic Association Bid To Host The 2012 Olympics;amdt. Line 1:

EDM number 134A1 in 2002-03, proposed by Kate Hoey on 20/11/2002.

leave out from 'Government' to end and insert 'should actively and enthusiastically consider all aspects of a possible London bid to bring the Olympic Games to the United Kingdom in 2012; notes that the recent Arup Report on the costs and benefits of such a bid concluded that ' the potential advantages of a 2012 Games centred on the Lower Lee Valley can be developed into a world-beating bid' and would potentially generate substantial benefits for the United Kingdom as a whole through increased tourism, job creation, capital investment, and a legacy of improved sporting and other facilities; further notes that after careful research and intelligence gathering the British Olympic Association has concluded that only a bid based around London would have any realistic possibility of garnering sufficient support from the voting constituency of the International Olympic Committee; and urges Her Majesty's Government to put its full weight behind the British Olympic Association in its attempts to bring the Games to London in 2012 and to seize this once in a lifetime opportunity.

This is a ammendment to 134.
