Treatment Of Journalists

EDM number 1265 in 2002-03, proposed by Kevin McNamara on 20/05/2003.

That this House believes that intimidation of journalists and trawling expeditions involving the seizure of confidential information violate the freedom of the Press; and urges the Government to cease making threats against journalists, to protect whistleblowers who act in the public interest; and to demonstrate its commitment to protecting the right of freedom of expression.
