Fire Service Dispute

EDM number 122 in 2002-03, proposed by John McDonnell on 18/11/2002.

That this House notes with extreme concern the failure to so far settle the fire dispute; and, if the current talks involving the Deputy Prime Minister, the FBU and the Fire Service Employers fail, calls upon the Prime Minister personally to take a lead in bringing the Fire Brigade Union and employers side together so that a realistic offer can be made with a guarantee to the employers of Government funding, which will thus provide the opportunity of a resolution to this damaging dispute.
