The School Crossing Patrol Service

That this House congratulates the School Crossing Patrol Service on its 50th anniversary; thanks the 28,000 lollipop men and women for the vital road safety role they provide in assisting children and adults in crossing busy roads near schools; pays tribute to the public service given by school crossing personnel over the past 50 years as a result of the School Crossing Patrol Act; applauds the efforts of the Local Authority Road Safety Officers' Association in promoting the School Crossing Patrol Service; and calls on the Government to encourage more people to volunteer.
