INTERNATIONAL FINANCE CORPORATION'S EQUATOR PRINCIPLES

EDM number 1122 in 2002-03, proposed by Tony Colman on 01/05/2003.

That this House welcomes the International Finance Corporation's social and environmental guidelines for project finance in emerging markets; commends the major banks that have supported these Equator Principles; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to support the initiative and encourage other major banks to also commit to financing only those projects which meet sufficiently high environmental and human rights standards.
