Mobile Post Office In North Cumbria

EDM number 1070 in 2002-03, proposed by Eric Martlew on 14/04/2003.

That this House expresses concern over the future of the mobile Crown post office which currently serves the rural areas of North Cumbria; condemns Post Office proposals to transfer this service from a Crown post office to a franchise system without proper consultation, in line with their own code of practice; and urges them to withdraw these proposals whilst providing the necessary investment to instal the computer based real time banking links and PIN pad installation which will help safeguard the future of this very essential public service.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs.
