Relocation Of Defra Officials
EDM number 1069 in 2002-03, proposed by Gary Streeter on 14/04/2003.
That this House welcomes the recent announcement by the Chancellor in the Budget that civil servants will be relocated to various parts of the country; calls upon the Government to relocate the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs from Whitehall to the West Country so that policy makers can be embedded in the issues and concerns of the rural communities most impacted by their decisions; and urges the Government to implement this important new policy while there is still a countryside left to save.
