Making Decisions Mental Capacity

EDM number 1043 in 2002-03, proposed by Bob Spink on 09/04/2003.

That this House regrets that little progress has been made in developing legislation on mental capacity; recognises the problem this continues to cause many individuals and carers affected by this complex issue; congratulates Age Concern Essex on its campaign to expedite the legislation to protect people's rights to make choices about their health and welfare and to choose who will be involved in decisions on their care if they are unable to make their views known; and calls on the Government to bring forward legislation at the earliest possible moment.

This motion has been signed by a total of 7 MPs.
