Suspension Of Detective Chief Superintendent Ellie Baker
EDM number 1039 in 2002-03, proposed by Paul Marsden on 08/04/2003.
That this House welcomes the decision by the Crown Prosecution Service to clear Detective Chief Superintendent Ellie Baker, Head of the Crime Support Unit at West Midlands Police of all charges regarding the allegations of improperly accepting gifts even though they were all returned to the originator; is very concerned that the investigation took nearly five months and that the Professional Standards Department will review the case; urges a speedy conclusion to the case which has placed the officer under enormous pressure and recognises the first-class, professional work of Detective Chief Superintendent Baker during her 35 years' service to the police and local communities.
