Channel 4 Television Programme Beijing Swings

EDM number 1007 in 2002-03, proposed by Ann Widdecombe on 03/04/2003.

That this House deplores Channel Four's screening of Beijing Swings, a programme which featured an adult eating part of a dead unborn child; notes with incredulity the justification of the Chairman of Channel Four, Mr Vanni Treves, that the work of Zhu Yu entitled 'Eating People' had artistic merit; notes the further justification that the programme exemplifies the dark message of the season as a whole; and believing that the programme debased human dignity and plumbed new depths of depravity and indecency, calls for the criminal prosecution of those responsible for its transmission.

This motion has been signed by a total of 61 MPs.
