Fair Play For Policing

EDM number 987 in 2001-02, proposed by Elfyn Llwyd on 12/03/2002.

That this House notes that police officers do not have access to industrial relations legislation to resolve conflict in their terms and conditions; further notes that the Police Federation has been supportive of proposals for change that will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the service; supports the Police Federation's concern that too much has been expected from too few police officers for too long; supports also the Police Federation's calls for more police officers, better training, and a fully independent Police Complaints Commission; further notes that the Police Federation has campaigned to adopt new sciences and technology to fight crime and aid detection; acknowledges that the Police Federation supports most of the police reform programme; and urges the Government to take the views of the Police Federation into consideration and supports its members in creating an effective and efficient policing system.

This motion has been signed by a total of 16 MPs.
