Pensions For The Long-Term Sick
EDM number 958 in 2001-02, proposed by Jeremy Corbyn on 07/03/2002.
That this House welcomes the Government's decision to relax the rules on the reduction of state pension and other benefits when in hospital, from six to 13 weeks; appreciates that this is the first time in over 50 years that measures have been taken to address the perceived unfairness in this regulation; but recognises that many pensioners still feel that the rule penalises them for being ill; and supports the National Pensioners' Convention in its call for the Government to abolish this practice as soon as possible.
