Case Of Safiyati Hussaini
EDM number 906 in 2001-02, proposed by Paul Stinchcombe on 27/02/2002.
That this House notes the plight of Safiyati Hussaini, sentenced in Nigeria under strict Islamic Sharia law to execution by stoning for adultery; expresses its concern that she claims she was forced to commit adultery against her will; notes that only one of four possible interpretations of that part of the Sharia law suggests that Miss Hussaini should be executed in this circumstance; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to take all possible steps to assist Miss Hussaini.
This motion has been signed by a total of 39 MPs.
