Knott End - Fleetwood Ferry

That this House welcomes the restoration of the Knott End to Fleetwood ferry on a seasonal basis from Good Friday to October 2002; delights in the real prospect of the provision of a new boat and an all year round service from 2003; congratulates all officials and councillors from Preesall Town Council, Wyre Borough Council and Lancashire County Council on their excellent work; commends the campaigning zeal of Bob Stevens of the Bourne Arms, Dorothy Cross and the members of the Ferry Action Group; recognises that the Knott End to Fleetwood ferry is not only a crucial element in an integrated, sustainable transport network linking Blackpool, Fleetwood, Over Wyre and Lancaster via tram, boat and bus, but also a delightful tourist attraction and an instrument of rural regeneration; and therefore calls upon all honourable Members attending future party conferences in the area to take the time to enjoy some of the best eight minutes of their lives by sailing the shimmering waters of the River Wyre and enjoying a warm welcome in both Fleetwood and Knott End.
