Bristol Oscar Nomination

EDM number 870 in 2001-02, proposed by Valerie Davey on 14/02/2002.

That this House congratulates Owen, King and Turner, a Bristol based company, for securing an Oscar nomination for its work on the make-up and hair in the epic film Lord of the Rings; wishes the company every success in the forthcoming Oscar ceremony, being held on 24th March; believes that this nomination, coupled with Bristol based Aardman Animation's recent Oscar success underlines the importance of Bristol as a centre for the creative industries; recognises the contribution which the creative industries in the South West make to the United Kingdom economy; and further notes that this strengthens Bristol's bid to become European 2008 Capital of Culture.

This motion has been signed by a total of 22 MPs.
