Biomass
EDM number 864 in 2001-02, proposed by Colin Breed on 14/02/2002.
That this House acknowledges the benefits that energy from Biomass offers the United Kingdom; recognises that it can play a critical role in reducing our greenhouse gas emissions; is aware of the significant environmental and economic benefits of using farm waste, such as slurry and poultry litter, to produce energy; and understands that in the wider context biomass and specifically energy crops offer farmers, land owners and rural communities exciting new opportunities to diversify their activities and rebuild their rural economies in a sustainable manner.
