Mersey Forest

EDM number 857 in 2001-02, proposed by Helen Jones on 13/02/2002.

That this House congratulates the staff of the Mersey Forest and their partners in the north-west region on the success of their work; notes that the project has so far achieved a 45 per cent. increase in woodland cover, 254km of new access and has converted 413ha of derelict land to community woodland; believes this has brought considerable economic and environmental benefits to the region; and looks forward to the further development of the forest in the future.
