Kiss Goodbye To Breast Cancer Campaign

EDM number 856 in 2001-02, proposed by Joan Ruddock on 13/02/2002.

That this House joins Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Avon Cosmetics in expressing regret that this year 39,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the United Kingdom, the equivalent of one woman every week per constituency; notes that Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Avon Cosmetics have collected over 40,000 symbolic kiss prints from the public to demonstrate the strength of support for the Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer campaign; further notes that the key to reducing the incidence of breast cancer is research into breast cancer prevention and that the Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer campaign has to date raised ú1.2 million towards this aim; and calls on the Government to develop a comprehensive prevention strategy for breast cancer, including research into the causes of this devastating disease.

This motion has been signed by a total of 84 MPs.
