That this House deplores the decision of Smurfit Corrugated to close its Warrington plant with the loss of 94 jobs; is deeply concerned by the firm's failure to produce clear evidence of why the Warrington site was selected for closure; condemns the lack of consultation with the workforce in Warrington; believes that Smurfit may intend using savings from the closure to invest in another plant abroad; and calls on the company to engage in meaningful negotiations with the workforce with a view to safeguarding British jobs.
