York City Football Club
EDM number 787 in 2001-02, proposed by Hugh Bayley on 04/02/2002.
That this House views with great concern the current threat to the future of York City Football Club, believing that football clubs are vital community institutions and that their grounds are assets, developed and cherished by the local community over decades; notes that if York City were to fold North Yorkshire would be the largest county in England without a Football League club; welcomes the launch on Friday 1st February of a York City Supporters Trust with the motto 'Building trust between community and club'; welcomes the successful Fans United day on Saturday 2nd February, which was attended by fans from clubs across the length and breadth of the country; and urges the current and prospective future owners of the club to co-operate fully with the supporter's trust.
This motion has been signed by a total of 61 MPs.
