EDM number 774A1 in 2001-02, proposed by Martyn Jones on 05/02/2002.

leave out from 'House' to end and add 'notes that no young person is allowed access to firearms except under strict adult supervision for the purpose of education and training; and that shooting is among the safest sports for young people with no recorded accidents for the last decade; further notes that allegations of 'hard sell' by extremist minority groups such as Animal Aid are an insult to the lawful interests of young people across the country; affirms that proper education and training in the use of firearms teaches responsibility and safety in a sport in which Britain leads the world; congratulates the Government for the encouragement it has given to the education and training of young people who wish to shoot; and looks forward to the imminent report from the Firearms Consultative Committee on this issue.'.
