That this House notes the golden handshakes of ú9,153,000 to Klaus Esser by Vodafone, ú3,187,739 to Jim Mueller by Ivensys, ú1,615,000 to David Allvey by Barclays, ú1,488,000 to Trevor Hilliard by Alliance & Leicester, ú1,373,000 to Peter George by the Hilton Group, ú1,332,000 to John Hoerner by Arcadia, ú1,265,000 to Jeremy Strachan by Glaxo Welcome, ú1,237,000 to Dino Adriano by J. Sainsbury, ú1,198,000 to James Cochrane by Glaxo Welcome, ú1,189,000 to John Parcell by Reuters, ú1,119,000 to Arun Sarin by Vodafone, ú1,110,000 to Ian Johnson by Cadbury Schweppes, ú1,052,000 to Andrew Bonfield by SmithKline Beecham and ú1,002,674 to James Moore by International Power, amongst others; notes that the Secretary of State for Trade & Industry announced in October that shareholders are to be given the right to an annual vote on director's pay; and calls for this to be extended to other payments such as golden handshakes so that there is a shareholders vote before any payment is made.
