Farm Tax
EDM number 751 in 2001-02, proposed by Paul Flynn on 29/01/2002.
That this House notes that farm subsidies cost the average family ú450 in the year 2000 and that the Consumers' Association reports that a basket of food costs ú85 in the United Kingdom and ú39 in New Zealand following the abolition of farm subsidies there; and calls for an end of the dependency culture of British farming by phasing out subsidies and ending the double whammy suffered by British taxpayers of high prices and a punitive farm tax.
This motion has been signed by a total of 9 MPs.
