Free Nursing Care And The Retention Of Fees

That this House welcomes the Government's introduction of free nursing care for residents of nursing homes in England from 1st October 2001; notes with great concern reports that some nursing homes are withholding from individual residents funding received from the public purse intended for them; condemns the opportunistic actions of those home owners in appropriating taxpayers' money intended to help the most vulnerable members of society; and calls on them to take immediate steps to pass it on to the people to whom it rightfully belongs.
